This is a poem that my English teacher made me write this year. People have been telling me to post it, so I will. We were studying the Holocaust when I wrote this.
This is from a flower's P.O.V.


Beyond the Fence

Past the barbed wire,
I bear witness to scared faces as they move by
I hear them talking,
Wishing to be as free as the breeze that ruffles my petals on a windy day.

A free life of ease will only please,
The poor souls that cry for freedom.
Their tears fall for the thousands of people that have been harmed.

Tears that well up in their eyes full of fear.
Blood falls like rain,
Sometimes splashing my leaves and staining them red.

So many lives taken.
Innocent lives, old lives, and young lives,
Gone.

As I look through the wire,
Twisted and spiked, I send a silent prayer,
So that they may one day have freedom like mine.

The freedom of a single flower.
